THE DEAD FISH

Last weekend was a busy one. I had to work at the Home Show at Fun City then go to Morgan's Fun Fest at school. The school was very busy on such a bad day of weather. The wind was blowing that snow and so I guess were else to be than in the school for Fun Fest. They had bingo and bounce houses and cake walks and ring toss. Not much out of the ordinary for an event like this. Well Morgan decided to play bingo. We found out if you won you got a gold fish. Not a fake fish a real gold fish. The kids were so excited. The first attempt was uneventful. Many of the kids that lost were crying and the parents you could tell were frustrated at having to sit and try to win there child a fish. Morgan's second attempt her dad help her out and they one.

So now we own a gold fish. We had a bowl left when we had some beta fish so we just needed water. Jason got water and I filled the bowl and now all was good. Morgan spent the night with my Mom on Sat night and on Sunday morning before I was out of bed she called worried about her fish. She could not wait to get home and she it and take care of it. She was glad she now had a pet and we had five in our family. This was a huge deal for Morgan. So the next few days her brother and her moved the bowl forward to watch the fish without a name and talk to it. This free fish brought lots of entertainment.

On Wed night we went out for Chicken. Before we left Jason and I looked at the fish that was not moving much. We taped the bowl and he swam away. When we got home I noticed something floating. Jason came over and determined the fish was dead. Morgan lost it. We had to talk and talk to her all night long about the fish dying. Jason had to explain that things die. It was a nightmare. The tears kept coming and she just said "I am sad that my fish died" I told Jason to go flush the fish down the toilet and here comes Blake " I help you daddy" "I help you flush the fish in the toilet" So Morgan's in tears and Blake was glad to help his dad flush the fish down the toilet. What a night. I did capture a pic of the fish the first night home. I guess that was a good thing.

TIME FLYS

The weekend has just flown by for our family again. Jason and I used the tickets we got my father for Christmas to go to the Iowa Basketball game this weekend. We knew with my dads surgery so close we may have to use the tickets if he was unable to go. That was the case for my dad since he just got his cathader out on Friday. He is in a slow recovery stage.

The game was a good one even though Iowa lost. My sister and her boyfriend went as well and we did dinner out. We had to wait a while to get seated since it was Valentine's day. It was a nice evening out with just Jason. We have been spoiled to get to spend some time out without the kids.

Blake has developed and ear infection again. He did not want to sleep on Friday night so we knew that something was up. Jason took him in to see the doctor on Saterday only to confirm what we already knew. I wish I could just get meds when needed since I got it down to a science with the ear infections. Morgan had a good Valentine's Party at school on Friday. I went in to her class to help and she had so many treats she bought some home with her. The kids loved looking in their Valentine boxes and seeing what the other kids brought them. I am glad I was able to be there with her. At my Mom's tonight my cousin was over and told Blake to go play with the kids. He looked at her and said "Don't you worry about it" "You are being bossy". My mom, Jason and I just started laughing. I did not know he even knew those words. He always surprises me with what he says and does. He is growing up so fast. Untill next time.....

WE HAD A BLAST

This weekend we went to watch Brad Paisley in concert. There was a total of eight of us that got tickets for Christmas and planned to go together. We went early to Davenport on Friday and goofed around town until we finally went to eat and drink before the concert. While killing a little time in the car, all eight of us piled in and laughed at all of the cars wanting our parking spot since there was a shortage due to the concert. The cars would come up behind us and turn their turn signals on and sit and wait thinking that were were going to back out. This happened time and time again. It became the joke in the car as to what car was going to be next.

As time was close, we walked into the packed I wireless center to find out sits at the next to last row at the top. We still could see the stage well and everyone else in the center. Watching three great acts and a few crazy people lead to a wonderful night out away from it all. It was well worth the money and time with some family.

Aside from the concert, on Thursday I spent the entire day at the hospital with my father. It was the day we all wanted to be done with. His surgery lasted four hours and almost two more hours in recovery. It all went well and my dad is now back out home. He will be laid up for around eight weeks with a long recovery ahead but I am glad the pathology report is now good and my fathers spirits are looking up. We all love our father and would have been even more sadden if things had turned out any differently then they had. The last six weeks on our entire family had been stressful with the wait and see and now we can all move forward. Thank God for all those that prayed for him and our family and thanks for all the calls to see how he was. God does great things and this is one of them. Keeping my father close during a difficult time.

MONKEY BOY

Well Blake has proven he can be a monkey. The climbing on things has started and being two has shown its true colors. I laid Blake down for a nap after lunch last week and the next thing you know Blake was in the kitchen with me. I took him back into his room and laid him down puzzled how you managed to get out of his crip. On Tuesday night Jason and I were sound asleep when I hear "Hi Mommy, Hi Daddy" little Blake had managed to get out of his crip during the middle of the night. Jason took him back to bed and as Jason was getting ready for work that mourning he heard a fall. He went in Blake's room to find him on the floor getting up and again Blake looked at Jason and said 'Hi Daddy". He has no fear of falling out of his crip or jumping out for that matter. This was all going on the week of Jan 26th. During the day I caught him climbing into his crip and standing on the rails. Jason and I only took three days of that adventure with him and decided to take the crip down.

So now the big boy bed is up and I need to get a boy comforter for him. We are also going to have to get a tall gate he can't climb to keep him in his room at night. At least once a night he comes up to visit us and we have to take him back to his room. This has been a fun adventure and again we never live a dull moment with our kids. I am a little sad I have no more babies in baby beds anymore. How time flys. This is not the only thing Blake has decided to climb. Any thing he can get a grip on he tries. I have to watch him every second to make sure we do not end up in the ER from a sudden fall.
